Atlanta Peach MoversCollection Update

Without taking anything away from the fervor of all who continue to contribute to our collection drive, we want to give special thanks to two very special partners:
Despite an unusually busy business schedule, Mr. Orlando Lynch authorized the daily use of Atlanta Peach Movers trucks and employees to literally move tons of goods and supplies from more than ten collection sites to our hub, in Lithonia, Georgia. The passion for making a difference runs deep at Atlanta Peach Movers.  When asked how he was doing, one of the movers replied: "This is the best time of my life. I am really touched by the contribution my work is making for Haiti and your people this week".

Donations for Haiti is a grass-roots organization of Georgians compelled to contribute the best of who human beings are in the effort to support Haiti in this time of need. To date, Donations for Haiti has collected 2,400lbs of blue jeans, 4,000 pairs of socks, 5,000 T-shirts, and 1,800 pairs of shoes.  They are Georgians, 100% volunteers, who are moved to action, and love to make a difference.

ContainerShipping Update

It was a chilly morning, and we've all had too much coffee. So we paced and talked nervously while waiting for the container to arrive.  All eager to load it up, and take the next step in the journey to give our love to our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Around 10:00 a.m., Gerard started screaming, "THE CONTAINER IS HERE!  THE CONTAINER IS HERE!  IT'S HERE!

Our team spent the next two hours packing every nook and cranny; one layer of food and bottled water, one layer of clothing, and a final layer of medical supplies. Our friend Jacques brought to bear years of shipping experience, and not one cubic inch was wasted. We shipped your container of hope to Haiti.

Census 2010 FlyerDistribution Update

The Haitian Alliance board of directors takes an active role in the distribution process. Mr. Frantz Bourget, our Treasurer, will be leading the distribution efforts in Haiti. This and subsequent rounds of distribution will target four areas of Port-au-Prince that have been particularly hard to serve:
  • the third communal section of Martissant,
  • the second commune of Port-au-Prince,
  • Croix-des-Bouquets, and
  • the communal section of Vedette.
During the last trip, in late January, our distribution team identified and engaged local coordinators, counted the number of men, women and children, and conducted a thorough needs assessment. This work served to provide a real human touch to our approach. Every box is assigned a code to link it to a specific street, in one of the target neighborhoods. Our distribution process is designed to make a difference street-by-street, neighborhood-by-neighborhood. When we leave, the people we touch know your love.
