THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND GENEROSITY
THE HAITI DISASTER RELIEF PROJECT IS COMPLETE
ATLANTA, GA – On March 31, 2010, The Haitian Alliance, Inc. celebrated the completion of its
participation in the Haiti Disaster Relief Project. The Haiti Disaster
Relief Project (HDRP) was formed on January 13, 2010, barely 24 hours
after the catastrophic 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Port-au-Prince and
neighboring areas. The Haitian Alliance met with members of 23 other
Haitian organizations, as well as unaffiliated members of
metro-Atlanta’s growing Haitian community to create the Haiti Disaster
Relief Project.
Based on a framework created by The Haitian Alliance, the group set out
to collect, ship, distribute and report on the most urgent of needs of
the men, women and children in Haiti, thousands of whom were left
homeless, injured and without the most basic necessities. Thanks to the
rapid response and tremendous outpouring of support from the Atlanta
community and beyond, the HDRP was able to send its first shipment and
delegation to Haiti within less than 2 weeks, delivering food, clothing,
baby formula, diapers and medical supplies to several neighborhoods and
hospitals in Port-au-Prince.
After the participation in the HDRP, The Haitian Alliance launched Project
Haiti. The new initiative aims to create programs that will “feed the
hungry, heal the sick, and shelter the homeless,” while fostering a
successful transition to a more stable life and supporting the Haitian
people’s autonomy in making decisions about the country’s new direction.
On June 2nd, 2010, The Haitian Alliance hosted a meeting to report to
the community and members of the Haiti Disaster Relief Project Team, a
complete accounting of donations made through the organization from
January 13th, 2010 through March 31st, 2010. Please click below for the detailed report.
